Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings. It’s based on Waiting on Wedneday, which was hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, and is all about casting a spotlight on books we haven’t read yet, especially ones that haven’t been released yet.
This Wednesday, I can’t wait for…
After losing spectacularly to her ex-girlfriend in their first game since their break up, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly mean Irene Abraham. Things only get worse when their nosey, do-gooder moms get involved and the girls are forced to carpool together until Irene’s car gets out of the shop.
Their bumpy start the only gets bumpier the more time they spend together. But when an opportunity presents itself for Scottie to get back at her toxic ex (and climb her school’s social ladder at the same time), she bribes Irene into playing along. Hijinks, heartbreak, and gay fake-dating scheme for the ages. From author Kelly Quindlen comes a new laugh-out-loud romp through the ups and downs of teen romance.

Why I Can’t Wait
I don’t read much romance, much less YA contemporary romance — not because I dislike it, but just because there has always been something else to read. My teenage years were badly marred by depression and anxiety, so it’s always been disconcerting for me to hear that high school was more than a drudgery-filled nightmare for some people. I need to get over that. And what better way to do so than with the help of a sapphic YA romance? I think this will be a very sweet book, full of emotional highs and lows as two teenage rivals fall in love.
