The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award is a way to promote and connect with other blogs. I was nominated by Aleks @ Aleks and the Books this past November. (Thank you so much, Aleks!) The rules are simple: answer the provided questions, and then tag other blogs you wish to promote.

Aleks’ questions are:

Who is your favorite author and why?

some information is too dangerous to be made public…

What is your favorite dream travel goal?

I’d like to travel around the UK and visit some friends who live there! My parents took me when I was younger, but I didn’t really appreciate it then. Now, I’m really curious about the Neolithic sites and the medieval history.

What is that you like the most about yourself?

I’ve always been told that I have very pretty eyes.

If you could read just one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Bible. Considering that I don’t believe in the Christian god, this is a weird answer, but you will notice that I didn’t specify which version of the Bible — I want to study all of it; the apocrypha, the gospels, the Pentateuch, etc. I would need to learn Latin, Greek, and several other languages to really get in-depth, but I think the Bible is absolutely fascinating as a historical document. You could spend a thousand lifetimes analyzing and comparing the different translations.

Which celebrity would you love to go on a date with?

I would prefer not to date a celebrity! However, I haven’t gone to a social event or been on a date with my boyfriend since March, so I’d really just like to leave my house and hang out with some my boyfriend and close friends.

Do you have any books/films/shows that influenced you in a significant way?

Ohhhh you have no idea. I was really into The Lord of the Rings as an adolescent, and I swear that shaped me as a person. It’s hard to articulate exactly how without writing an entire essay on the subject, though.

If today would be the end of the world, what would you do?

Cuddle my cat and take a nap.

What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas! I love giving gifts, so this holiday is perfect for me.

What music do you listen to when you want to cheer yourself up?

The peaceful ending song from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl soundtrack. This song got me through some really tough times with my depression, and iTunes says I’ve played it over 7,000 times. (Please do not be alarmed; I fell asleep listening to it on repeat a lot, and I’ve had it in my music library for over seven years).

What character from a book/film/show would you want to be friends with?

Yennefer of Vengerberg from the Witcher franchise! Don’t get me wrong, she’s selfish as heck and a deeply flawed person, but I get the feeling that she’s the type to look out for her friends once her loyalty has been earned. She’s everything I’m not, and I really admire her.

Do you have a personal dance that you perform for yourself when no one’s looking?

Nope! Sometimes I’ll do a little twirl just to make myself smile (provided there are no witnesses, of course), but that’s about it.

And that’s all of Aleks’ questions! My questions are:

  1. What’s your favorite poem?
  2. What trope in fiction is sure to make you emotional?
  3. When was the last time you cried while reading something, and why?
  4. A shooting star just passed overhead! What do you wish for?
  5. Name a book you’ve loved that deserves a movie adaptation. (If you want, tell us who the director and lead actors are, too!)
  6. What is a genre that you don’t read often and that you want to explore more deeply in the future?

I’m going to tag…

Sarah @ Suits of Stories

Prath @ Life of a Solivagant

Emma @ Pages of Achilles
