Hey, friends! My name is Jessica Favor.
I’m a college student living on the east coast of the US with my evil cat, and I like to write fiction. I also like to read, but I fell out of the habit during the Dark Ages (a.k.a. high school) circa 2014 as my anxiety and depression began to manifest in ways that really disrupted my life. I’m now a lot better than I was, and my new mission is to get back in the saddle and start reading for enjoyment again. I’m aiming for a minimum of 4 books per month, which will be a mixture of my personal picks as well as books I’ve selected for a project called “Read Across the Globe.”
I realized that, when I was reading as a kid and teenager, the authors whose books I selected were overwhelmingly white, straight, cisgender, and either American or western European — in other words, they were very similar to myself. One of my goals is to read more diversely in adulthood and learn more about the lives of people who exist outside of my bubble of privilege. I want to document this journey and compare my start point to… well, actually, I’m hoping that this journey doesn’t have an end point, because learning should never stop.
Alongside my reading I’m going to be attempting more creative writing, but this time I’ll aim high and strive for publication. I’m very excited, and so happy to have you here! If you’re a fellow reader and/or writer, please let me know so that we can get to know each other and become friends. Thank you!
If you would like to get in touch, here is my email address.
If you like what I do, please consider donating a coffee so that I can have a warm drink while I read.
